For an 8A subway station, the system configuration and equipment selection, energy consumption in the air conditioning season, building scale, and economic benefits are analysed and compared on two schemes: a high-efficiency air conditioning system using variable frequency screw chillers and a high-efficiency air conditioning system using magnetic levitation direct-expansion air conditioning units. The results show that the magnetic levitation direct-expansion air conditioning unit scheme consumes 39 274 kWh/a more energy than the variable frequency screw chiller scheme, and the cost increases by 30 084 yuan/a. The magnetic levitation direct-expansion air conditioning unit scheme reduces building area, but increases the outdoor area. According to the annual value method, after comprehensively considering factors such as building scale, initial investment, and operation and maintenance, the typical 8A subway station in Beijing is suitable for adopting the variable frequency screw chiller scheme, but its requirements for construction and management are higher.
